Am Samstag, den 16. November, pr\u00e4sentierte MBS Professor Dr. habil. Florian Bartholomae seine Forschungsergebnisse auf dem 66th Annual North American Meeting of the Regional Science Association International in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania (13. bis 16. November 2019). Die NARSC<\/a> ist die gr\u00f6\u00dfte und bedeutendste internationale Konferenz im Bereich der Regionalwissenschaften, auf der jedes Jahr internationale Experten von renommierten Institutionen ihre neuesten Forschungsergebnisse vorstellen.<\/p>\n

Prof. Bartholomae stellte das Papier \u201eTwo Shades of Urban Shrinkage: Innovation and Economic Structure in Cities with Declining Population\u201d, ein gemeinsames Forschungsprojekt mit Prof. (FH) Dr. Schoenberg von der IMC Krems, vor. In dem Paper wird untersucht, inwiefern Innovationsaktivit\u00e4ten und unterschiedliche Wirtschaftsstrukturen dazu beigetragen haben, den wirtschaftlichen Abschwung in demographisch schrumpfenden deutschen St\u00e4dten zu verhindern. In einer fr\u00fcheren Studie haben die Autoren zusammen mit Prof. Dr. Nam vom ifo Institut aufgezeigt, dass bei St\u00e4dten keine Parallelit\u00e4t zwischen der demografischen und der realen wirtschaftlichen Entwicklung besteht, das hei\u00dft, auch demographisch schrumpfende St\u00e4dte \u00f6konomisch wachsen k\u00f6nnen \u2013 es also einen Unterschied zwischen \u201ashrinking cities\u2018 (demographisch und \u00f6konomisch schrumpfend) und \u201asmartly growing cities\u2018 (demographisch schrumpfend und \u00f6konomisch wachsend) gibt. Basierend auf einem Probit-Sch\u00e4tzmodell wurde untersucht, durch welche Faktoren sich diese beiden Gruppen unterscheiden. Es zeigt sich, dass bei \u201asmartly growing cities\u2018 der Anteil moderner Unternehmensdienstleistungen an der realen Wertsch\u00f6pfung h\u00f6her ist und diese ebenfalls \u00fcber eine ausgepr\u00e4gtere Gesch\u00e4ftsdynamik und Innovationsorientierung verf\u00fcgen. Diese Ergebnisse sind insofern relevant, da sich in Deutschland die Stadtentwicklungsf\u00f6rderung des Bundes vor allem auf die Erneuerung von Innenst\u00e4dten und Wohngebieten konzentriert, um die Lebensbedingungen der Einwohner zu verbessern. Basierend auf der Analyse w\u00e4re es allerdings deutlich zielf\u00fchrender, die wirtschaftliche Infrastruktur zu verbessern, um Unternehmertum und die Innovationst\u00e4tigkeit bestehender Unternehmen zu f\u00f6rdern.<\/p>\n

Die Ergebnisse wurden mit gro\u00dfer Zustimmung und Interesse diskutiert. Diese Forschung ist Teil des Forschungsprojekts \u201eShrinking Cities\u201c und ist dem MBS-Forschungsfeldes „International Business“ zugeordnet. Ziel ist es, Standortfaktoren zu identifizieren und zu analysieren, die f\u00fcr Regionen und Unternehmen entscheidend sind, um im internationalen Wettbewerb zu bestehen. Gerade f\u00fcr kleine und mittlere Unternehmen, die lokal und regional verwurzelt sind, ist es wichtig, wie sich St\u00e4dte und Regionen entwickeln und mit Problemen umgehen, da dies entscheidend zu ihrem Erfolg beitragen kann.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
