The guests were Katrin Gillett, Kathrin Rienecke and Leonard Gerch, who introduced the students to the world of consulting at Adobe, KPMG and Horv\u00e1th.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-css-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p>After a brief opening and welcome by MBS Career Center Manager Stephanie Stangl, Katrin Gillett, who is currently completing her <a href=\"https:\/\/www.munich-business-school.de\/en\/mba\/mba-part-time\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">MBA part-time at Munich Business School<\/a> and also works as a Senior Solutions Consultant Digital Media at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.adobe.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Adobe<\/a>, took the floor. She introduced herself and provided insights into Adobe&#8217;s corporate culture. Kathrin Gillet is 28 years old, was born in Germany, loves animals, sports and food &#8211; especially chocolate &#8211; and has always been interested in technology. After studying computer science, Katrin took some time off and traveled to Australia, where she spent a total of seven years. Back in Germany, she started her career at Adobe in March 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignright size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.munich-business-school.de\/insights\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/Adobe-neu_1-1.jpg\" alt=\"Slide &quot;A day in my life&quot; by Katrin Gillet (Adobe) during the Consulting Career Event at Munich Business School\" class=\"wp-image-17638\" width=\"386\" height=\"214\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.munich-business-school.de\/insights\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/Adobe-neu_1-1.jpg 765w, https:\/\/www.munich-business-school.de\/insights\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/Adobe-neu_1-1-300x166.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 386px) 100vw, 386px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>With the mission <em>Adobe changing the world through digital experiences<\/em>, Katrin led over to the company part of her presentation. In her position as Senior Solutions Consultant, she acts as an interface between customers and sales teams and supports her customers in achieving strategic goals. To visualize the daily tasks of a digital media consultant at Adobe, the MBA student showed her weekly schedule and explained that every day is different because customers have different needs. On Mondays, for example, she updates the dashboards. Katrin named the following as the top skills for the consulting  job:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Communication: pitching, negotiating, empathy, authenticity<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Focus: assisting clients in achieving their goals, finding common ground, learning to say no<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Problem solving: have a plan B, leave room for improvement<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>As a conclusion, Katrin stated that this profession is definitely something for people who love challenges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-css-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignleft size-large is-resized\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.munich-business-school.de\/insights\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/KPMG-e1637050110359.png\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.munich-business-school.de\/insights\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/KPMG-e1637050110359-1024x566.png\" alt=\"Audit slide by Kathrin Rienecker (KPMG) during the Consulting Career Event at Munich Business School\" class=\"wp-image-17602\" width=\"405\" height=\"224\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.munich-business-school.de\/insights\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/KPMG-e1637050110359-1024x566.png 1024w, https:\/\/www.munich-business-school.de\/insights\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/KPMG-e1637050110359-300x166.png 300w, https:\/\/www.munich-business-school.de\/insights\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/KPMG-e1637050110359.png 1099w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 405px) 100vw, 405px\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>Consultant Kathrin Rienecker, who shares Katrin Gillet&#8217;s passion for food, was the second guest speaker to take the floor and presented the role of auditor at the auditing and consulting firm<a href=\"https:\/\/home.kpmg\/de\/en\/home.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"> KPMG<\/a>. She is based in Hamburg as a Senior Manager at KPMG. After her personal introduction, she moved on to the company and mentioned that it is precisely diverse teams that make KPMG so special. For example, KPMG has a 50% share of women. After this interesting fact, Kathrin introduced the services at KPMG. For example, there are the areas Deal Advisory, Tax or Financial Services. She went into more detail about her own area, Audit, the description of which can be found in the adjacent picture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Kathrin&#8217;s daily tasks as an auditor and senior manager include making phone calls, assisting with problems, and ultimately ensuring that the financial statements are accurate. She also drew attention to the following challenges:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>&#8222;You don&#8217;t always have the same perspective as the clients &#8211; however, you will find solutions that make sense for both parties.&#8220;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>&#8222;I traveled a lot in the beginning, but as long as my projects are managed well, I&#8217;m ok. Also, you get an overwhelming amount of emails.&#8220;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Kathrin also pointed out that her profession has to do with business and social responsibility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--nextpage-->\n\n\n\n<p>Last but not least, the baton was passed to Leonard Gerch, who asked the students to call him Leo right at the beginning and works as a Managing Consultant at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.horvath-partners.com\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Horv\u00e1th<\/a> in the energy sector. Leo lives in Berlin, has a great passion for tennis and usually plays early in the morning. He completed his engineering studies in Berlin and then did various internships in the energy sector in the US as well as in Valencia and Munich. In his role as a consultant, he mostly carries out projects in the strategy area or develops new business models for clients. According to Leo, the Horv\u00e1th DNA has the following meaning: &#8222;We&#8217;re all on the same side, always working together, and above all, working to create sustainable value.&#8220; In addition, Leo mentioned that Horvarth and other partners founded a start-up called<em> Evety<\/em>. Regarding challenges that a consultant expects, he had this to share: &#8222;I enjoy traveling, but it&#8217;s also challenging to balance both &#8211; the extra work and personal life.&#8220;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Following the presentation, Leo Gerch even asked master&#8217;s student Nataliia Bieliaieva to be available as an interviewee for her master&#8217;s thesis. MBS Career Center Manager Stephanie Stangl stated: &#8222;That&#8217;s exactly why I love these events so much. You have the chance to exchange ideas and make new contacts. Maybe you students will then present your profession at an event in a few years.&#8220; For master&#8217;s student Nataliia Bieliaieva, the event was also a great opportunity: &#8222;We were able to meet consulting professionals from different business fields and broaden our own understanding of the role of a consultant and how to get there. For me &#8211; being interested in the energy industry &#8211; it was a perfect complement to meet Mr. Gerch and get useful insights from him.&#8220;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At the end of the presentations, the students had the opportunity to ask questions. The consultants gave the current students a lot of advice for their future careers:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<pre class=\"wp-block-preformatted\">\"We are looking for team players who are interested in digitalization, and who are also interested in using the tools that go with it. COVID-19 has changed the way we work forever, work-life balance is becoming more important. Clients also enjoy not having to pay so many travel expenses.\" (Kathrin Rienecker)<\/pre>\n\n\n\n<pre class=\"wp-block-preformatted\">\"Analytical as well as communication skills are needed. Be interested in the projects and the customers, try to understand the person behind the problem - and help them with your expertise as much as possible. Be aware of your fresh perspective on business processes. Expectation management is important: present the tasks and to-dos as crisply as possible to avoid creating false expectations. In your day-to-day work you will always gain new insights, you need to be open and take the opportunities as they come.
