In late April, Munich Business School hosted the first-ever MBS Impact Pitch Night, in which teams of students from the bachelor\u2019s, master\u2019s and MBA programs presented their sustainable business ideas to an expert jury.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n\n\n\n

The topic of entrepreneurship plays an essential role at Munich Business School, running like a golden thread through all MBS programs \u2013 from the bachelor\u2019s program in International Business<\/a> to the master\u2019s programs in International Business<\/a> and Innovation and Entrepreneurship<\/a>, through to the MBA General Management<\/a>. MBS teaching staff strive to convey a sustainable approach to the topic to students in line with the university\u2019s belief that only start-ups and business ideas that offer genuine value to society and fulfill certain sustainability targets will achieve long-term success. In an effort to familiarize students with a real pitch situation in front of potential investors and showcase some business ideas developed on the various programs to a wider audience, the university hosted the first MBS Impact Pitch Night in late April on the initiative of MBS Professor Dr. Anne Tryba. The most promising concepts from entrepreneurship modules on the bachelor\u2019s, master\u2019s and MBA programs had been pre-selected, with a total of six student teams taking to the stage at MBS Impact Pitch Night. Each team had five minutes to pitch their idea to the audience and, in particular, to a jury of experienced company founders and investors. Following their pitch, the students had the opportunity to justify their proposals in a further five minutes of questions and comments from jury members Nina Albert (Porfolio Advisor at PINOVA Capital GmbH<\/a>), Michel Geolier (CEO and founder of Betterfront<\/a>), Markus Barnikel (General Partner at Eisbach Partners<\/a> and multiple founder) and Patrick L\u00f6ffler (Founder and Managing Director of givve<\/a>) \u2013 all MBS alumni.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Here\u2019s an overview of the teams:<\/p>\n\n\n

\"Team<\/a><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n

Lifeness<\/strong>
Bachelor\u2019s students Aileen Kaufmann, Maximilian Wiebrock, Chiara Butorac, Luna Schneider, Laetitia Christ und Anna-Maria Siedler hope to revolutionize the sports market with their app, Lifeness, and create an online platform that combines all sports services and facilities across an entire city \u2013 from gyms and leisure centers to outdoor offerings. Their aim is to improve residents\u2019 health and fitness as well as urban infrastructure by encouraging app users to travel to sports facilities on public transport.<\/p>\n\n\n

\"Team<\/a><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n
Share Foodery<\/strong>\nShare Foodery is a demo restaurant that enables emerging restaurateurs to trial their gastronomic concept for four weeks. This restaurant-sharing concept is the brainchild of bachelor\u2019s students Adrian Frauendorfer, Vincent Gisy, Justus Sch\u00fctte and Maximilian Bengler, and aims to reduce the high risks involved in launching new businesses in the catering and hospitality sector. At the same time, local consumers benefit from greater variety.<\/pre>\n\n\n

V-Travel<\/strong>
In V-Travel, Qihan Zhao, Yiyun Shen and Chin-Hsuan Hsu from the bachelor\u2019s program in International Business<\/a> combine their passion for travel with a customized social media career. As an incubation company, V-Travel provides a platform and network for all stakeholders in the travel and lifestyle sector \u2013 from (aspiring) influencers to photographers, videographers and local businesses like hotels and restaurants.<\/p>\n\n\n

\"Team<\/a><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n
Priex<\/strong>
Priex, the business idea of Iwan Bitschin and Kathryn Wagner from the master\u2019s program in Innovation and Entrepreneurship<\/a>, is a sort of multi-generational house, offering both affordable housing for older generations and high-quality daycare facility for the youngest in society. It responds to the childcare crisis currently affecting many families, especially those in urban areas. The two components are linked by an intergenerational program that also strives to enhance the physical and mental well-being of both generations.<\/pre>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

ProClub<\/strong>
Many amateur soccer players face a common problem: a lack of metrics and analysis of ball-specific and physical data means they are unable to tap their full potential. ProClub is sliding in to tackle this issue. Developed by Marvin Klein and Leonhard Schneck from the master\u2019s program in International Business<\/a>, the product comprises hardware \u2013 the tracking device, which is fixed to the player\u2019s boot \u2013 and software to visualize the captured data.<\/p>\n\n\n

\"Team<\/a><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n
Heaty<\/strong>
Heaty \u2013 a set of heatable underwear \u2013 is a solution conceived by MBA students Josephine Kizhakkanadiyil, Wenwen Zhang, Pranav Gudhenia, Shuvam Dhar and Thomas J\u00e4ckel in an effort to help alleviate the pain of menstrual cramps. Although other manufacturers have already identified the potential of such a product, none of the options currently on the market are fully sustainable or usable in the workplace. A fundamental part of this concept is the Heaty Bag, which is filled with heat-retaining grape seeds and soothing herbs \u2013 and is easy to warm up in the microwave.<\/pre>\n\n\n\n
At the end of MBS Impact Pitch Night, the jury of alumni crowned two winning teams. After taking home the title of team with the best pitch, Iwan Bitschin and Kathryn Wagner can look forward to a three-month membership at BASE Accelerator<\/strong><\/a>, where they will have the opportunity to drive their idea forward in an innovative co-working atmosphere and exchange ideas with other start-up founders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The main prize for the most promising and most impactful entrepreneurial idea went to Team Heaty. In addition to sustainable FSLK water bottles from MBS alumnus and founder Patrick Bohrer, the team will receive exclusive mentoring from serial entrepreneur and investor Rupert Sch\u00e4fer. Another MBS alumnus, Sch\u00e4fer is firmly committed to the topic of impact in both his private and professional lives \u2013 such as in his previous company, The Nunatak Group \u2013 making him the perfect fit for this award at MBS Impact Pitch Night.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We would like to thank all the teams for the courage they showed in pitching their business ideas to such a large audience. Good luck to you all in their future development! Virtual access to the BASE start-up community will enable all participants to gain further experience in an entrepreneurial environment. A big \u2018thank you\u2019 also goes out to David Baus, who teaches the Business Planning course on the International Business master\u2019s program and the Innovation and Entrepreneurship master\u2019s program.
