{"id":20255,"date":"2023-05-04T11:02:50","date_gmt":"2023-05-04T09:02:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.munich-business-school.de\/insights\/?p=20255"},"modified":"2023-08-04T13:52:17","modified_gmt":"2023-08-04T11:52:17","slug":"ltt-meeting-of-the-conscious-business-education-project-at-munich-business-school","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.munich-business-school.de\/insights\/en\/2023\/ltt-meeting-of-the-conscious-business-education-project-at-munich-business-school\/","title":{"rendered":"LTT Meeting of the Conscious Business Education project at Munich Business School"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>On April 20 and 21, the <em>Conscious Business Education<\/em> project met an important milestone: members of all project partners got together in Munich for the LTT meeting &#8211; <em>Learning, Training and Teaching<\/em>.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/consciousbusinesseducation.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><em>Conscious Business Educatio<\/em>n (CBE)<\/a> is an Erasmus+ funded research project coordinated by Munich Business School. It aims to develop a syllabus on the topic of conscious business for bachelor\u2019s and master\u2019s programs as well as for the field of executive education. What has been going on since the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.munich-business-school.de\/insights\/en\/2022\/kick-off-for-the-conscious-business-education-research-project\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">project kicked off in Barcelona<\/a> about a year ago? Quite a lot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Developing a Conscious Business Education Syllabus<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>At the LTT meeting, the MBS project coordinators Konstantin Mudrack and Prof. Dr. Christian Schmidkonz were joined by members of the project partners consortium consisting of the universities <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bsm.upf.edu\/en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">UPF Barcelona School of Management<\/a> (Spain), <a href=\"https:\/\/www.upol.cz\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Palack\u00fd University Olomouc<\/a> (Czech Republic), <a href=\"https:\/\/www.novasbe.unl.pt\/en\/nova-sbe\/id\/en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Nova School of Business and Economics<\/a> (Portugal), the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eur.nl\/ice\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Impact Centre Erasmus<\/a> (The Netherlands), <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uni-wuerzburg.de\/en\/home\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Julius-Maximilians Universit\u00e4t W\u00fcrzburg<\/a> (Germany), the coordinating partner <a href=\"https:\/\/www.munich-business-school.de\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Munich Business School<\/a> (Germany) and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pimec.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">PIMEC<\/a>, Catalunya\u2019s federation of small\/medium enterprises.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One important agenda item of the Learning, Training and Teaching meeting was, in essence, forming the different courses the partners have developed into one coherent, coordinated syllabus: For this, the project partners spent a good amount of time identifying best practices within the 21 courses and were overwhelmed by the rich variety of methods, practices and tools the 12 different professors that created the courses had applied. Variety is good. While quite a number of best practices were identified, it was concluded not to mandate a \u201csingle way to teach a course\u201d. Because there isn\u2019t. Rather it is beneficial to promote creativity and diversity while identifying best practices as an example.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So what were the best practices identified? To name just three examples:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Make students reflect \u2013 &nbsp;on their values and on their purpose. This shall trigger a reflective mindset and lead to a more conscious participation in class.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Apply simple mindfulness practices at the beginning of each class: this sets the tone for the entire class.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Introduce experiential, playful ways for students to explore the themes taught in the specific course.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.munich-business-school.de\/insights\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/LTT-Munich-2023-pic-5-1024x498.jpg\" alt=\"Conscious Business Education project partners working on the syllabus during the LTT meeting at Munich Business School. \" class=\"wp-image-20259\" width=\"622\" height=\"302\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.munich-business-school.de\/insights\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/LTT-Munich-2023-pic-5-1024x498.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.munich-business-school.de\/insights\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/LTT-Munich-2023-pic-5-800x389.jpg 800w, https:\/\/www.munich-business-school.de\/insights\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/LTT-Munich-2023-pic-5-1536x747.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/www.munich-business-school.de\/insights\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/LTT-Munich-2023-pic-5.jpg 2016w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 622px) 100vw, 622px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Planning the Conscious Business Education Multiplier Event<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The second major item on the meeting agenda was planning the upcoming <a href=\"https:\/\/consciousbusinesseducation.com\/conference\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Conscious Business Education<\/strong> <strong>Multiplier Event<\/strong><\/a> in detail. This conference will take place on June 28 and 29 in Barcelona and aims to be of special appeal for three main audience groups:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>professors and any kind of university teacher<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>researchers, Ph.D. students, or business students<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>business and economics teachers in high schools or vocational schools.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>None of these three target groups need to have prior knowledge on conscious business \u2013 as sharing this knowledge is the main topic of the conference. Essential is that all of them teach business-related topics. The conference aims to provide knowledge to enrich these educators and help transform what they teach.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>What was fascinating to see was how the team applied methods to further developing the conference agenda, which are in themselves highly conscious. The agenda now includes delivering parts of a class to the audience in an experiential way, and introducing the audience to mindfulness exercises and tools. At the LTT meeting, there was great focus on this &#8222;conscious spice&#8220; &#8211; an appealing term for &#8222;what makes the CBE courses unique&#8220;. Indeed, the goal is not only to innovate <em>what<\/em> we teach, but also <em>how<\/em> we teach it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So far, so good.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Over the next few weeks, the CBE partners will be busy preparing the first BIG event in Barcelona.
