The Elite of Private Business Schools: Munich Business School Ranks Among Germany’s Top Five

The SZ Institute has awarded Munich Business School in the field of Economics, Management & Entrepreneurship—thereby confirming its position as one of Germany’s leading private business schools.

Only eight of the 50 private universities evaluated received an award in the field of Business, Management & Entrepreneurship—and the Munich Business School (MBS) is one of them. In the SZ Institute’s recently published ranking, “Best Private Universities 2026,” MBS ranks fifth, clearly positioning itself among the top private business schools in Germany.
The ranking, conducted by the market research institute Innofact, surveyed 1,265 HR decision-makers and students regarding 50 private universities across 15 fields of study—and is thus considered one of the most representative surveys on the quality of private universities in the German-speaking world.

Widespread recognition across all evaluation categories

This award in the field of business is not the only one: MBS has also received a “Top” rating in all six interdisciplinary quality categories, making it one of the best private universities in Germany in every category:

  • Quality of graduates – Rank 3
  • University reputation/image – Rank 3
  • International Focus – Rank 4
  • Field of Study/Thematic Focus – Rank 4
  • Innovative Strength & Forward-Looking Approach – Rank 5
  • Practical relevance – among the top 10

An achievement that only two other universities managed to achieve in the overall ranking: of the 50 universities evaluated, only three received awards in all six categories at the same time.

Quality that impresses HR decision-makers

“Ranking fifth among Germany’s top private business schools—that’s no coincidence, but the result of consistent effort. Since our founding in 1991, we have been committed to an education that combines academic excellence with a strong practical focus and genuine internationality. The fact that HR decision-makers and students alike recognize this confirms that we are on the right track,” said Prof. Dr. Stefan Baldi, Dean of Munich Business School.
