SBC goes ISPO Munich 2017

MBS SBC ISPO

MBS professor Dr. Todd Davey and his Sportsmarketing class of the MASTER Sports Business and Communication program visited the famous ISPO Munich, the world’s largest industry gathering for all things related to sports and business. The SBC students were able to explore and find out about the newest trends and products within the industry presented by more than 2,500 international exhibitors within the following fields: Outdoor, Ski, Action, Sports Fashion, Performance Sports, Textrends, Health and Fitness as well as Sourcing. Furthermore, the students were able to listen to numerous presentations, discussions and watch/ participate in fun competitions and challenges.

The class’ main objectives of the trip were to observe the latest trends and innovative products, find important and influential organizations that are trying to make a difference within the industry, network with experts from all around the globe and find potential organizations for internships. Furthermore, the class was searching for best practice examples of good sports marketing.

In fact, the students were able to learn about, for example, new clothing materials (sustainable & recycled materials), safety innovations for winter sports such as skiing airbags, updates in technology concerning Virtual Reality, and wearables, just to name a few. They were also able to find a couple of organizations currently looking for interns and working students suiting the desires of the SBC students. All in all, it was a very exciting field trip for the entire class, as everyone was able to take in a totally different side of sports business.
