For 21 years, the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (GEM) has been studying startup activity worldwide. It is the world's only data source that enables a spatial and temporal comparison of the startup rates of many countries in all continents. Since 1999, data on startup activity and startup attitudes have been collected annually in more than 50 countries. In the survey year 2020/2021, a total of 133,503 people worldwide participated in the representative GEM population survey and 1,737 people in the GEM expert survey.

What does this mean in a global comparison? Who is founding? Why and what is founded? What are the obstacles to founding a company? These questions and many more are answered by the "Global Entrepreneurship Monitor". Following the lecture, there will be an opportunity for questions and a discussion with the team of authors.
