Master's Sports Management

The practice-oriented Master's Sports Management is aimed at anyone who wants to pursue a career in sports business and is professionally involved in sports. In 18 months you will be trained to become a competent and responsible leader. During your studies you will develop technical and personal skills as well as leadership qualities. In the Master's Sports Management you will acquire the skills to be successful in the sports business. The language of study is English, so you should already have a good working knowledge of the language. The Master's Sports Management is aimed at sports enthusiasts who want to deal with sports professionally. The focus is on a practice-oriented academic education. In the core modules, you will learn general business knowledge, and the course-specific modules deal specifically with the challenges of sports management.

Course content of the Master in Sports Management

After graduating with a Master's Sports Management, various doors will be open to you. Be it as a sports manager in a club, as a social media manager at an event organizer, as a marketing expert in an agency or in press and public relations. Sports Business and Leadership

Learn similarities and differences between the sports industry and other industries and learn about the relationship between amateur and professional sports (sports participation pyramid) and their specifics as they relate to sports business.

Business Project

On behalf of a real company such as adidas or a federation such as the DFB or the DOSB, you will work on a concrete, practice-relevant issue.

Semester 3
15 ECTS Semester abroad +

Students of the Master have the opportunity to spend their third semester abroad at one of our numerous international partner universities. During the semester abroad you will gain extensive international experience and develop your intercultural skills. Alternatively, students can spend two semesters at selected universities and complete their studies with a dual degree.

15 ECTS Internship +

Students who have studied at the university level or worked professionally consecutively for at least one year outside the German-speaking region can apply to replace the study abroad period in the third semester with a subject-related internship in the German-speaking region. If this is approved, an 15-week full-time internship for 15 ECTS must be completed during in the third semester.

15 ECTS Master Thesis +

Last but not least: writing your Master Thesis with the focus on Sports Management and Media.
