Prof. Dr. Alexander Richter is a (Full) Professor for Information Systems at Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand.
Prior to joining Wellington University, he was Associate Professor at IT University of Copenhagen and head of the research unit “Digital Work Design” at University of Zurich. He earned his PhD at Bundeswehr University Munich and was a visiting researcher at universities in Sydney and Auckland.
Prof. Richter’s research evolves around the interplay of individual practices, organisational context and information technology. His articles on digital work, social media, smart factories and digital innovation have been published in many leading journals, awarded with several best paper awards and have been cited more than 4.000 times.
Over the last 10 years, he was involved in more than 30 projects with leading companies and research institutes aiming to contribute to the design of digital workplaces, e.g. in the major European project “Worker-Centric Workplaces for Smart Factories” where he lead the requirements analysis. He also facilitated change projects with companies like Allianz, Airbus, Bayer, BMW and Bosch.
