Diversity at MBS

At MBS, we live diversity and have anchored it deeply in our values. We celebrate our differences and appreciate various perspectives and experiences as the building blocks of innovation and success. We view diversity as a cross-cutting task that affects all areas of Munich Business School: from equal participation in studies, teaching and research, to administration and campus life.

Together for a Fair University

Despite all efforts, the evaluation of human differences — in our appearance, abilities, or social background — remains structurally entrenched and omnipresent in everyday life. That is why Munich Business School has a Diversity, Equality and Inclusion (DEI) Commissioner.

Diversity

Integrating diverse perspectives and experiences into university life is important to us. MBS members who need advice regarding racial discrimination or other discrimination issues can contact our DEI Commissioner at any time.

Equality

We are also committed to gender equality at MBS — and beyond gender dimensions! This includes raising awareness of gender-specific barriers, promoting equal opportunities, and providing support for experiences of gender-based discrimination.

Inclusion

We want to be a university for everyone. Nevertheless, access is easier for some than for others. To address this imbalance, the DEI Commissioner advises people with special needs, disabilities, or neurodivergence and advocates for the removal of access barriers.

Dr. Ruth Weiand
"I am a contact person for everyone who studies, teaches, or works at MBS — regardless of how large or small a concern may seem. Whether it concerns specific experiences of discrimination, questions about accessibility, or simply the feeling of not quite belonging: I listen, advise, and advocate for MBS being a place where everyone finds their place."

When Can I Contact the DEI Commissioner?

Here are just a few examples:

  • If I have experienced discrimination at MBS based on my appearance, origin, and/or gender and need a contact person, am seeking support, or want to file a complaint.
  • If I would like to find out about support services and counselling centres in Munich following a discrimination experience.
  • If I am a lecturer with questions about diversity and DEI topics in or beyond the classroom.
  • If I am affected by a disability and want to learn about my options and/or disadvantage compensation (academic accommodations).
  • If I am an MBS employee with one of the above concerns or an idea for strengthening diversity at MBS.
  • For any and all questions and concerns relating to the topics of diversity, equality, and inclusion.
