Where can this Master take you? Companies are looking for people who understand how AI is changing business models – and who can put that change into practice. This Master opens doors in start-ups, established companies, family businesses, consulting and the wider innovation ecosystem.
Over two semesters, you work in a small team on a real innovation or business challenge – for a start-up, an investor, an accelerator, a family business or the innovation unit of an established company. An MBS professor supports you throughout. Where it fits, you also assess how AI could change your project partner's processes, products or business model – including the opportunities and risks.
The Business Project is also your gateway to Munich's innovation ecosystem: it connects your studies with organizations, decision-makers and contacts that matter far beyond the lecture hall.
Examples from past projects: an international market entry strategy for a mobility start-up and an analysis of disruptive innovations for a private equity firm.

A common thread through your studies.
In this Master, AI isn't an add-on. It runs through the core innovation and entrepreneurship modules. In Strategy and Business Design, you analyze how AI platforms are changing industries and shifting value creation. In Ideation and Prototyping, you use AI for opportunity scouting, idea generation and rapid prototyping – and learn to critically assess its output. In Innovation and Business Creation, you develop AI-based business models; in Scaling Startups and Innovation Projects, you scale AI-driven initiatives responsibly. And Responsible Leadership covers bias, data protection and collaboration between people and AI. The AI in Business elective lets you go even deeper.
From understanding change to transforming entire organizations.
You start by understanding change: how are AI and new technologies reshaping markets, industries and business models? Building on that, you develop and test solutions – with design thinking, lean startup, prototyping and AI-supported experimentation, always close to real customers. You work with the same methods that start-ups and innovation teams in established companies actually use.
Next, you turn validated ideas into viable ventures: you develop business models, secure resources, define market strategies and scale innovations. And because technology alone doesn't change an organization, you learn to lead transformation – with responsible leadership, an understanding of organizational behavior and a clear view of the ethical questions AI raises in business.
You have the opportunity to apply for our exclusive mentoring program. Within the framework of this program, a professionally experienced person from the circle of MBS alumni will support you with words and deeds during the hot phase of your studies, help you to achieve your career goals and provide you with valuable contacts through their network. At the beginning of your studies, you will receive more information about our mentoring program and can apply for one of the limited places.
Study innovation where business, technology and entrepreneurship come together.
Munich brings together global corporations, family businesses and Germany's Mittelstand, start-ups, investors, accelerators, technology companies, research institutions and innovation networks. Throughout the program, you build your network through company projects, guest lectures, alumni, ecosystem events and direct exchange with founders, investors and corporate innovators.
Why study a Master in Entrepreneurship in Munich? The region is home to more than 2,400 start-ups and, relative to its population, is Germany's strongest start-up location. Add global corporations, a strong Mittelstand, investors and universities that work closely with business. And because the program is taught 100% in English, you don't need to speak German to study here.
Over three semesters, the curriculum takes you from your first idea to real impact. You develop an entrepreneurial mindset, learn to test, build and scale innovations, and combine this with business fundamentals and an international perspective. AI perspectives are integrated into the core modules.
A central component of the program is the semester abroad at one of more than 70 partner universities worldwide at Munich Business School – in Europe or on another continent. Whether in France, the United States, China, Australia, or Mexico, the stay abroad is an unforgettable experience for many students, allowing them to gain international experience, form lifelong friendships, and collect valuable academic and personal impressions. The International Center of Munich Business School provides comprehensive guidance and support in choosing the right partner university and with all organizational matters.
More than half of all MBS students come from abroad, giving every class an international feel. Through daily exchange with your international classmates, you develop a deep understanding of different cultures and get to know culture-specific ways of thinking and working that enrich your studies. Shared activities outside the lecture hall also help you expand your international network and build valuable contacts and friendships.
With the dual degree option, you acquire an additional, specialized Master's degree from one of our partner universities. Munich Business School's cooperation with renowned international universities gives you the opportunity to acquire two different master's degrees within two years. The dual degree is only available in the fall start. For a dual degree, you will normally spend two semesters at MBS and then two semesters at the partner university, followed by the Master's thesis.

That depends on your goals. If you want to shape innovation – in your own start-up, an established company or a family business – you gain methods, real project experience and access to Munich's start-up ecosystem. A degree isn't a must for founding a company, but it is an accelerator: you test ideas in a safe setting, build a network and learn from faculty with hands-on experience.
Much more practical. Over two semesters, you work on a real assignment in the Business Project for a start-up, an investor, an accelerator or an established company. In the 3rd semester, you choose between your own start-up project, an internship and a semester abroad. You apply methods such as design thinking, lean startup and prototyping directly instead of only learning the theory.
No. Alongside the innovation and entrepreneurship modules, you take core modules such as International Business and Management, Communication in International Business and Responsible Leadership. This qualifies you not only for founding a company but also for corporate innovation, business development, strategy, consulting or family business succession. An entrepreneurial mindset is in demand in almost every industry.
Yes. In the 3rd semester, you can work on your own start-up instead of a semester abroad or internship, with supervision and coaching from faculty. Before that, you develop and test business ideas in the modules and the Business Project. Whether you launch straight after graduating or first gain experience in a company is up to you.
Yes. The start-up project is one of three practical options in the 3rd semester and is worth 15 ECTS. You work on your own idea with ongoing coaching from faculty. Much of what you learn in the first two semesters – from ideation and prototyping to resource acquisition and scaling – can be applied directly to your venture.
It's about how artificial intelligence is changing business opportunities, business models, organizations and decisions – and how you shape this change as a founder or manager. You learn where AI creates new entrepreneurial opportunities, how it changes innovation processes and how companies responsibly turn technological change into business value.
No. This Master isn't a degree in AI engineering, data science or programming. The focus is on management, entrepreneurship and organizations: spotting opportunities, making well-founded decisions with AI and leading people through change. Curiosity about new technologies helps – technical knowledge isn't required.
Yes, but not as a pure tool course. AI tools change quickly, so you learn to use them purposefully for research, idea generation, prototyping and analysis – and to critically assess their output. The key question is when AI adds real value to a business model or decision, and when it doesn't.
Judgment, decision-making under uncertainty, communication and leadership. AI can analyze data and suggest ideas, but it can't replace the ability to spot the right opportunities, set priorities and win people over for change. These skills are at the heart of the Master – combined with a solid understanding of what AI can do for a business.
Many paths are open to you: corporate innovation and business development in established companies, innovation and strategy consulting, roles in start-ups and scale-ups, at accelerators or venture builders – or succession in a family business. The Master is deliberately designed not just for founders, but for everyone who wants to drive innovation and change.
Yes. According to the TUM Entrepreneurship Ranking 2025, Munich Business School is the university with the highest start-up activity in Bavaria, the region around Munich. Between 2014 and 2024, there were 85 start-ups per 1,000 students – placing MBS 4th across Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
Yes. The Master Innovation & Entrepreneurship is taught 100% in English. You don't need German for admission or for your studies. Around half of all MBS students come from abroad, so you'll study in an international environment right in the heart of Munich.
