Hashem Zarafat is a Senior Lecturer in Finance and Economics and an Adjunct Lecturer at Munich Business School, where he teaches across the fields of finance and economics. His teaching includes Valuation & Investment Strategies, Global Finance & Risk Management, Financial Management, Corporate Finance, Quantitative Methods in Finance, Corporate Finance, International Finance, International Financial Reporting, Bank Management, and Managerial Economics.

His teaching and academic interests focus particularly on securities analysis and financial research, stock markets, commodities and capital markets, financial valuation, investment decision-making, personal finance and financial literacy, and empirical financial research. He combines academic foundations with practical applications, with a particular emphasis on understanding equity, fixed-income, commodity, and other financial markets, evaluating investment opportunities, and applying quantitative methods to financial and economic problems.

Alongside his activities at Munich Business School, Hashem Zarafat has worked with prestigious academic institutions and organizations in Germany and internationally. He has extensive professional experience in capital markets and finance, banking, business development, and entrepreneurship, and has worked across both the private sector and higher education. His professional experience includes financial analysis, investment research, financial consultant, strategic business development, and management.

With extensive academic and professional experience across Malaysia and Germany, Hashem Zarafat brings a strong international and multicultural perspective to his work, with a broad understanding of economic, financial, and business environments across Europe, Asia, and the Middle East.

At Munich Business School, he has also played an active role in the development and launch of the Master in Finance program, working closely with Professor Hofinger and other members of the MBS academic leadership and faculty team. His contribution included substantial involvement in the academic development and implementation of the program.

Hashem Zarafat is currently pursuing a PhD in Economics at the University of Tartu, where his doctoral research focuses on the role of public banks in economic development in Malaysia. His broader research interests include capital markets, financial markets, commodity markets, AI and innovative finance, quantitative financial analysis, ESG and sustainable finance, economics, and international finance.

His research combines empirical methods, quantitative analysis, and financial theory to investigate questions related to security analysis and research, portfolio and wealth management, capital and financial markets, financial literacy, personal finance, payment solution and banking, risk, economic development, and emerging technologies in finance.
