About The University

The Management Center Innsbruck (MCI) was founded in 1995/96 and has since developed into one of the most recognized educational institutions in the German-speaking world. One of many proofs of this is its AACSB accreditation—a seal of quality for business education that only around 30 universities in the entire German-speaking world can boast. The MCI sees itself as an entrepreneurial university and combines science, business, and consulting into a unique concept.

The degree programs and teaching concept at the MCI are very practice-oriented. Lecturers from the business world, close cooperation with industry, small groups, mandatory internships, practical projects, and part-time study programs make it possible to not only impart knowledge, but also to apply it. At the same time, MCI attaches great importance to innovation: those who study here work on the challenges of tomorrow – naturally using the latest methods and in a state-of-the-art learning environment.

Studying at the Management Center Innsbruck also stands for internationality. Over 300 partner universities worldwide, lecturers and students from many different countries, and English-language programs invite you to broaden your horizons. Students at MCI particularly appreciate the excellent support, the close network with companies, the intensive career services, and the good alignment of teaching and labor market needs – the majority of graduates secure attractive career opportunities even before graduation.

In short: MCI not only offers you a high academic standard, but also a degree program with a strong practical focus, international options, and real career prospects—ideal if you want to do more than just study, but really make a difference.

The campus of the MCI Management Center

The MCI Management Center Innsbruck is not a traditional campus university. Instead, the MCI is spread across six locations in the heart of the vibrant Alpine metropolis of Innsbruck, all of which are easily accessible on foot or by public transport. This integration into the city promotes exchange with universities, research institutions, companies, and service providers – while also bringing movement and variety to everyday student life.

An inspiring learning environment awaits you at each of the MCI locations: modern seminar and computer rooms, open group work areas, laboratories, and multimedia studios offer you optimal conditions for your studies and projects. Campus life is complemented by a wide range of work and research opportunities, attractive dining options, and student residences in the immediate vicinity.

Lienz Campus

Since the 2025/26 winter semester, MCI has also had a study location in Lienz, East Tyrol. At the Lienz campus, students can pursue an interdisciplinary technical degree at the bachelor's level. After the first two semesters in Lienz, students transfer to the campus in Innsbruck. Students then ideally complete their mandatory professional internship and thesis back in East Tyrol.

Living and Housing in Innsbruck

Innsbruck offers you the perfect combination of vibrant city life and alpine quality of life. Between historic alleys, modern cafés, and international flair, you will find numerous opportunities to go out, enjoy culture, and meet new people. At the same time, the mountains are only a few minutes away and invite you to enjoy sports, relax, and breathe deeply in both summer and winter – ideal conditions for a balanced study-life balance. If you want to spread your wings and travel during your studies, you will also benefit from Innsbruck's central location in the heart of Europe: European cities such as Milan, Munich, Vienna, and Zurich are within easy reach.

There is high demand for housing in Innsbruck. Rents in the university city are correspondingly high, and finding an apartment can sometimes be challenging. But with good planning and sufficient lead time, it can be done! Several student residences, such as Speckbacherheim or Bischof-Paulus-Heim, offer comparatively inexpensive single rooms with additional common areas. For rooms in dormitories, “applying early” is a must. Many dormitories have fixed application deadlines or waiting lists.
If you come to Innsbruck to study, shared apartments are also a good alternative: at an average of €350-450, they are significantly cheaper than private apartments, whose monthly rents are often between €600 and €700. If you manage to find a place to stay in Innsbruck, you will be rewarded not only with a great place to study, but also with an attractive life in the middle of the Alps with a wide range of leisure activities.
