Queen Mary University of London is part of the renowned Russell Group, which brings together the 24 leading universities in the UK in teaching and research – but with one key difference: In the tradition of its four founding institutions, which pursued the goal of offering real opportunities to underrepresented groups, QMUL today opens its doors to new opportunities for anyone with the potential to succeed – not just a privileged elite. This inclusive and welcoming attitude is reflected in an extremely diverse student body: over 90% of domestic undergraduate students at Queen Mary University of London come from state schools, 73% belong to ethnic minorities, and 45% are the first in their family to attend university. In addition, almost 50% of students are international.

As a comprehensive university, Queen Mary University of London covers the entire spectrum of traditional university subjects and offers more than 240 bachelor's and over 300 master's and PhD programs in the humanities and social sciences, natural sciences and engineering, as well as medicine and dentistry. The university is even a national leader in some subjects, such as computer science, law, and history. Queen Mary University of London is also one of only a few business schools worldwide with the prestigious AACSB accreditation. Last but not least, high employment rates testify to the high quality and practical teaching at QMUL: 90% of graduates are in employment or further study within 15 months of graduating (Graduate Outcomes Survey 2024).

Research is a high priority at Queen Mary University of London – and with success: the university ranks among the top 31 worldwide (THE World University Ranking 2026) and joint 7th in the UK in terms of research output (Research Excellence Framework 2021).
