All programs are characterized by a high level of practical relevance. The innovative knowledge-applied teaching concept was awarded gold in the Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF) 2023. Gold means that the courses are developed and taught by industry experts and that students are actively encouraged to apply their knowledge in practice through workshops, real-word projects, or internships. To ensure practical learning within the university, the premises must be appropriately equipped. Here, Sheffield Hallam University plays a pioneering role beyond the country's borders. When studying at Sheffield Hallam University, you’ll learn in the same modern environment you’ll find in your future workspace. The university's Sheffield Business School is the largest business school in the UK and holds the prestigious AACSB accreditation, which only six percent of business schools worldwide can boast.

The university's motto, “SHU transforms lives,” applies not only to teaching, but to all areas of the university. Sheffield Hallam University's interdisciplinary research is dedicated to current health, economic, and social challenges. SHU also sets standards in terms of accessibility: in the Times Higher Education Impact Rankings 2024, it ranked fifth worldwide in the area of reducing inequality. No other provider in the UK accepts more students from neighbourhoods with historically low numbers going to university . Sheffield Hallam University sees itself as an inclusive community where everyone – regardless of their origin and background – receives the support they need to reach their potential.

Sheffield Hallam University has two campuses in Sheffield: the City Campus and the Collegiate Campus, which is only a ten-minute bus ride from the city center. A new location in London will be opened in 2026.

The Collegiate Campus mainly houses Sheffield Hallam University's health and social care courses and offers numerous practical facilities such as a simulated hospital ward and AR laboratories.

The modern City Campus is home to many different faculties and departments, such as the Sheffield Business School or Computing & Digital Technologies.

Both campuses also have numerous social areas, cafés, gyms, and two libraries that are open 24/7, 365 days a year.

Sheffield Hallam University is continuously developing its campus facilities to provide its students with an optimal and modern study experience. In 2025, three new buildings were opened for the Sheffield Business School, the Institute of Law and Justice, the Institute of Social Sciences, and the Department of Architecture within the Institute of Creative Industries, with first-class facilities for teaching, learning, and research. Testimonial

Danjun Zhu Former master's student at Munich Business School and exchange student at Sheffield Hallam University
"Since I wanted to improve my English skills and see more of Europe during my semester abroad, I chose the UK and Sheffield Hallam University. The courses at Sheffield Business School were very interesting. Because each lecture was followed by a seminar, we were able to apply and practice what we had just learned. We had to do a lot of reading and writing for the final exams, but this way I achieved my goal of improving my English. Sheffield is a great city for anyone who wants to travel around the UK during their semester abroad. Smaller cities such as Leeds and York are only an hour away by train, and London and Manchester are also less than two and a half hours away. But there is also plenty to do in Sheffield itself! British bar culture is truly unique and something I had never experienced in Germany, let alone my home country of China. During my semester abroad, I lived on the campus of Sheffield Hallam University, which I would recommend to anyone, as it's easy to make friends and you don't have to worry about finding accommodation."
