The A&M part of the name dates back to 1871, when the university was founded as the Agricultural and Mechanical College of Texas, the first public institution of higher education in Texas. The nickname “Aggies,” which now refers equally to students, alumni, and the university's sports teams, also has its origins in the university's agricultural roots. In general, Texas A&M University is considered particularly tradition-conscious and maintains a variety of well-established rituals. For example, people greet each other on campus with a friendly “Howdy!” – an expression of the strong sense of community that characterizes the university.

Testimonials

Jonas Adebahr Former master's student at Munich Business School and exchange student at Texas A&M University
"I always wanted to experience American college life firsthand. With Munich Business School and its excellent network of partner universities, I was able to fulfill this dream. The huge and lively campus of Texas A&M University creates exactly that college feeling and makes it very easy to feel part of it. Life in College Station was definitely different than in Munich. College Station is a typical college town: the university campus forms the center of the city and you encounter students everywhere. In addition, everything in Texas is much bigger and more spacious than in Germany."
Miriam Kathol Former master's student at Munich Business School and exchange student at Texas A&M University
My semester abroad at Texas A&M University was one of the best experiences of my life. I saw American football for the first time, met lots of people from all over the world, and simply had a wonderful time in America. A special experience was the behind-the-scenes tour, where we, as international sports management students, had the opportunity to go behind the scenes at Kyle Field Stadium on game day and experience everything up close. The stadium can hold over 100,000 spectators, and the atmosphere during a game is simply unique!"
Kevin Lichtenfeld Former master's student at Munich Business School and exchange student at Texas A&M University

Since Texas A&M University has a very good reputation and is known for its sports management program, it was one of my favorites from the start. I also wanted to experience American college life and the athletic atmosphere on and off campus. I was not disappointed: the sports spirit on the Texas A&M campus in College Station is incredible. You can't help but cheer on the various college teams."
