The Campus of UCLA

The University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) campus is located in Westwood, a neighborhood popular with students, academics, and celebrities alike, bordering Bel Air, Brentwood, and Beverly Hills. The Westwood campus was designed as a “college in the garden” and is considered one of the most beautiful campuses in America, with palm-lined paths, expansive green spaces, and impressive sunsets.

On the 419 hectares of the campus, students will find everything they need to study and live in Los Angeles, just like in their own little town: state-of-the-art learning and research facilities, iconic architecture, numerous sports and recreation centers, well-equipped libraries, restaurants and cafés, and its own student housing district – “The Hill” – with a variety of housing options. Not to mention a vibrant campus life and a lively student community! With over 5,000 events per year and more than 1,000 clubs and student organizations, the UCLA campus is a place full of opportunities, and you'll find it easy to meet like-minded people and discover new interests.

At the same time, the UCLA campus is a place where history comes alive: Martin Luther King Jr. gave his famous “Segregation Must Die” speech at the foot of Janss Steps, Ray Bradbury wrote his classic Fahrenheit 451 in Powell Library, and Olympic champions have trained in the sports facilities.

In addition to the main campus in Westwood, there are other facilities in the area that belong to the university, more specifically to UCLA Extension. UCLA Extension is the continuing education and adult education department of the University of California, Los Angeles. As Los Angeles is one of the most expensive metropolitan areas in the US, finding accommodation is a challenge for students. Fortunately, UCLA maintains several student residences and apartment complexes on campus, an offer that is particularly popular with first-year bachelor's students, more than 98% of whom live on campus. Prices vary between $1,300 and $1,800 per month, including meals, depending on the amenities. Students at UCLA Extension are not eligible for regular university dormitory accommodation. Like many other students, they often live in shared apartments in the surrounding neighborhoods, which are easily accessible by bike or bus. For shared apartments near campus, you should expect rents between $700 and $1,200 per month.
